Getting around Youtube's anti-ad blocker using Firefox on windows 10/11 just became a lot easier.
The method we have been using of resetting ublock origins is still working for some people but Youtube has found ways around it in some cases. We're not sure how yet, but Firefox has responded to the nonsense with a sneaky little back door exploit for those of us who are skilled enough to use it.
One of the three new official Firefox addons they released with this new update is called "Firefox Multi-Account Containers" and it is marketed as letting you carve out a space in your browser for each aspect of your life…
What it actually does once you install it, is let you go to a webpage, like say youtube, and click on the new icon it puts in the address bar to allow you to ALWAYS open any youtube page in a new container tab.
These container tabs don't carry over as much cookie and tracking data because they are intended for privacy so the first time you go to youtube using one you'll have to log in to your account again but after that you can use youtube just like normal.
Your adblock plus/Ublock origins will work like normal, no tricks required and it's automatic so once it's set up every link to a youtube address should automatically put itself into a "Container".
You'll know the tab is a "Container" because it will have a colored highlight at the top like in the picture I am sending.
If you feel fancy you can even click on the addon, choose "Manage Containers" and create one just for youtube. That's what I did.
